Poem for the Other Mark

Sinuous along barking hills
onto the urban plane
Albino lit to arrive at the island
He actually said this is like a Beckett play
"estranged from that which is most familiar"
After that everything was just us reading our lines
I kept looking over my shoulder at the terminal
just the chirping sparking departure
language returned to normal
joke defer avoid refer anecdote
my aunt two guys last night bigfoot a bar
joke defer

The snake bit hard on it's tail and
Inertia threw me against the two poles
(bodies in motion tending)
metal and jewish
one I grabbed one
slowly turned
china cherry blossom strawberry malted angora sweater
neighbor's roses fire engine cranberry juice
slowly turned
defer refer joke
shouldered his bag as the jaws
pried open to the lair up the moving stair
into the 10:45 27 Leavenworth night restoring
the streetlamps to his face.
